JOP is a scholarly e-journal devoted to the psychoanalytic study of organizations. As an interdisciplinary psychoanalytic journal, it is intended to provide scholars in the social and behavioral sciences with a place to engage in dialogue and to publish their psychoanalytic explorations of organizational theory, behavior, and change.

The first volume of JOP is now available at no cost. Visit the Table of Contents to read the first two articles: "Organizational Totalitarianism and the Voices of Dissent" by Howard F. Stein, Ph.D. and "Keeping Track of the Self: Empathy, Recognition, and the Problem of Emotional Attunement in Organizations" by David P. Levine, Ph.D.

CALL FOR PAPERS:
What changes when organizations change?
A symposium on organizational psychodynamics

JOP announces a call for papers for a symposium on organizational psychodynamics. We urge you to consider submitting a fully developed paper or shorter thought piece that focuses on the study of organizations. Download the PDF for more information.

From the July 2007 Call for Papers

"Those who study organizations often do so with the goal of finding ways to foster and direct change. Yet, identifying change and the factors that bring it about poses significant problems.

Clearly it is problematic to speak of altering psychic structure or moderating the harshness of the superego when our concern is with organizations rather than individuals. How then do we speak of the kind of change in organizations with which those applying psychoanalysis to organizational dynamics are concerned? What is it that changes and through what process? And what fosters that change? These are the questions we invite you to explore for our Symposium."
